The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute was established in 2007 as the sixth research institute of The University of Queensland. The aim of the Institute is to develop a better understanding of the molecular and cellular basis of disease, and to translate that understanding into practical outcomes for patients. Based at the Translational Research Institute (TRI) at the Princess Alexandra Hospital teaching campus in Brisbane, the Institute has almost 270 researchers and students who work closely with clinicians in the areas of cancer, immunology and genomic medicine. UQDI is the largest partner in TRI, and is building major programs in Immunology, Cancer and Genomic Medicine research, with a particular focus on research aimed at development of new treatments.  Details of the research interests of academic staff may be accessed on the Institute’s web site at http://www.di.uq.edu.au/research.

The role

The successful applicant will carry out statistical methodologies development and their application to high throughput omics data generated in the laboratory, in particular proteomics data. This role will also include developping user-friendly web interfaces for the methodologies to be used by other researchers.

The person

Applicants should possess an Honours degree in biomedical or biostatistics with subsequent relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Extensive experience in biostatistics, particularly with analysis of proteomics and transcriptomics data is required. Applicants should also possess excellent programming level in the R statistical software, excellent problem solving ability and ability to work with minimal supervision. Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills, analytical skills, attention to detail, and have the capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 1 years at HEW Level 6.  The remuneration package will be in the range of $67,572 to $72,814 per annum base salary plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% for a gross salary package of $79,059 to $85,193.
