The rapid development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and their ever-greater effect on a wide range of other industries is due to the non-stop research, creativityand innovation. Innovation yields progress, which further stimulates innovation in a closed loop that is catalyzed by expensive, long-term investment. Therefore, innovation becomes key to the success of ICT companies and somehow a vital factor to survive in this high paced and intensely competitive market.

 

Following the success of precedent seminars, the 4th annual VNTelecom seminar on Innovation and Creativity in ICT will be held by the VNTelecom[1] community on November 26th2011 in Paris (France), in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). The seminar aims at building a bridge between oversea Vietnamese ICT professionals/enterprises and those in Vietnam.This event will be a prime opportunity for participants with common interests on Vietnam ICT development to broaden their professional contacts, to share their visions and to relate their experiences.

The Institute of Energy science will host the second international workshop on sustainable energy development for two days, November 14 and 15th 2011, in Hanoi (14 of November) and Halong (15 of November).

The workshop aims at promoting exchanging information, cooperation and sharing experience in sustainable energy development research among countries in South East Asia, Australia, China, Japan, Korea, and European countries; and introducing modern technology in energy exploitation, effective and economic energy consumption.

Contents of the workshop include:

(1) releasing scientific research results of organization as well as individuals on the field of sustainable energy development and energy security;

(2) displaying and introducing modern energy technology;

(3) exchanging experience in scientific research and application implementation in energy field;

(4) discussing policies of sustainable energy development;

(5) discussing cooperation models of enhancing scientific research and sustainable energy development in the region;

(6) visiting energy research facilities and famous beauty spots of Vietnam, directly exchanging information among workshop participants.

The Institute of Energy Science would like to invite you to write scientific report and participating in the workshop. The report should be focused on:

-         sustainable energy development models;

-         nuclear power plant;

-         hydropower development and water conservation;

-         new and renewable energy;

-         effective and economic energy consumption;

-         modern energy technology.

The Institute of Energy science invites interested institutions, organizations, individuals, scientists, managers and enterprises to submit report and participate in the workshop .

High-quality article appreciated by the scientific council will be published in the workshop summary record and registered with the International Standard Book Number (ISBN).

The 6th Int’l Conference on Community-Based Adaptation

CCWG – preparation for CBA WS 6th in Vietnam

 

As you might know, the Sixth Community-based Adaptation Conference (CBA) which has been decided to be organized in Vietnam next year (around April 2012).

Members of CCWG in Vietnam has been actively participating in the CBA 5 Conference in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2011.

 

The Fifth International Conference on Community-Based Adaptation (CBA), organized by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS), took place  in Dhaka, Bangladesh from Monday, 28 to Thursday, 31 March 2011. The conference was themed “Scaling Up: Beyond Pilots,” focusing on the need to spread CBA knowledge and practical lessons horizontally across communities and vertically across levels of governance and action. Over 390 participants, representing over 190 nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), branches of government, international organizations, and academia were in attendance.

In order to support the organization of the Sixth CBA Conference in Vietnam, NGOs members are invited to join in the Vietnam taskforce (NGOs of the two networks CCWG and DMWG, UNDP, members from DMC, DDMFSC, Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation, some agency under MONRE, and the Redcross).

 

The key tasks for the taskforce will involve:

 

-          Advising to the Organising Committee of the CBA workshop

-          Discussing with IIED with regards to contents of the workshop.

-          Preparing an action plan for the preparation work.

-          Participating in monthly meeting of the taskforce to discuss the work.

-          Supporting the selection of the site visits in the country and logistics organization.

-          Other supporting work.

 

As there will be a limited number of around 6 NGOs from CCWG and DMWG joining the taskforce. With regards to those under CCWG, the core group of CCWG will hopefully make a final decision of those 3 registering organizations.

 

Could you please consider the participation? Please make sure that any staff assigned to join in the taskforce will have to spend time and efforts for meetings and other organizing work.

Hội thảo KH về ứng dụng công nghệ tế bào gốc trong y học

Báo Nghệ An (16/07/2011) Ngày 14/7/2011, Sở Y tế phối hợp với bệnh viện đa khoa Thành An Sài Gòn đã tổ chức hội thảo về công nghệ tế bào gốc và ứng dụng trong y học. Hội thảo do PGS-TS-bác sĩ Phan Toàn Thắng – một trong những chuyên gia hàng đầu Châu Á và trên thế giới về công nghệ tế bào gốc – hiện đang giảng dạy tại Đại học Quốc gia Singapo chủ trì.

Việc nghiên cứu tế gốc trong y học đã được tiến hành từ những năm 1960 trên thế giới, nhất là ở các nước phát triển. Ghép tế bào gốc đã điều trị khỏi nhiều bệnh nhân mắc bệnh hiểm nghèo. Gần đây việc nghiên cứu và ứng dụng tế bào gốc trong y học được nghiên cứu và phát triển ở rất nhiều chuyên khoa khác như: mắt, tim mạch, bỏng, da … PGS-TS- bác sĩ Phan Toàn Thắng là nhà nghiên cứu có tầm cỡ quốc tế về tế bào gốc, trong nhiều năm qua, ông đã có nhiều đóng góp to lớn cho nền y học nước ta thông qua các chương trình trợ giúp đào tạo, chuyển giao công nghệ và hỗ trợ các chương trình nghiên cứu lớn về lĩnh vực này. Riêng tại Nghệ An, ông đã hỗ trợ và chuyển giao công nghệ tế bào gốc cho bệnh viện Đa khoa Thành An Sài gòn trong điều trị các bệnh về da như điều trị các vết thương mãn tính lâu lành do đột quỵ, sọ não, lão hoá; các biến chứng của tiểu đường gây loét da; làm đầy các sẹo lõm do di chứng của thuỷ đậu, mụn trứng cá …

The first Annual HDR Student-led Conference

The Annual HDR (Higher Degree Research) Student-led Conference is an annual showcase of postgraduate research and a celebration of the significant contribution postgraduate researchers make to the research profile of the University.

The conference will aim to:

  • Provide a supportive academic environment for HDR students to present their research work and get constructive feedback on it.
  • Offer opportunities for HDR students to get feedback from peers, esp. students from other universities.
  • Provide a friendly and open environment for research students to exchange ideas and build network.
  • Offer scaffolding and chances for publication.

Open Call for Papers

Postgraduate research students from all universities in Sydney, Woolongong and Newcastle in the discipline of education are invited to submit an abstract for an oral presentation.

Abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of academic staff and should be written to engage the interest of a non-specialist research audience. If your abstract is accepted, you will deliver a 20 minute presentation followed by a brief opportunity for questions from the audience.  Topics can be anything related to education, such as teacher education, educational administration, learning and instruction, curriculum studies, social context of education, and educational policies

Submissions are called for individual papers presenting either completed research or work-in-progress. Abstracts should briefly summarize the research problem and the research that has been carried out, highlighting the originality of the research, any significant contribution or potential contribution to the subject area and any current or potential contribution beyond the specific subject area. Presentations including research of an interdisciplinary nature are welcome as are presentations that raise the opportunity for discussion and debate.
