Introduction

Development of a sustainable built environment is an effective approach for meeting the demand of three key aspects of economy, environment and society, whilst also complying with UN millennium goals towards a better life for human being. In 2010, a 3 year international project was sponsored by the Department for International Development, British Government, to develop and transfer latest knowledge regarding sustainable construction from three of the leading universities in the UK, Loughborough University and University of Liverpool (Queen’s University Belfast from January 2012) to the National University of Civil Engineering in Vietnam (NUCE Vietnam) and also to establish long-term collaboration in university education and training between the institutions.

As an important outcome of the project, the international conference “Sustainable built environment for now and the future” is co-organised by the four institutions to share the findings of the project and also to gather the views from other researchers in all fields regarding sustainable built environment.

The conference will be held at the National University of Civil Engineering in Vietnam (NUCE), who have around 30,000 students in a variety of civil engineering disciplines. The University is located in the heart of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. More information about Hanoi is available at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanoi.

The Conference is open to all those interested, and are expected to have a number of participants between 150 and 200. All papers will be subject to review by the Conference Scientific Committee. Accepted abstracts and full papers will be published in an ISBN Book of Abstracts and ISBN e-proceedings respectively.

Please submit your abstract by EMAIL the abstract to sbe2013@nuce.edu.vn or lttnvn@gmail.com by 15 September 2012 for our conference scientific committee review.
